Garmin introduced the much-awaited Fenix 6 Pro series. This mega-rugged Fenix multisport watch offers sophisticated design, GPS-based mapping, POV navigation, music compatibility, Wi-Fi connectivity and constant updates. Due to its heavier casing, it looks a little bulky and does not feel light on the wrist. The Fenix 6 Pro watch had a hefty price tag initially, but it’s affordable now.

The Fenix series enthusiasts are a bit confused in choosing the right watch from the nineteen new varieties. Overall, the Fenix 6 Pro series can be deemed the successors of the Fenix 5 Plus series. This smart watch is worth your money; it has a bigger screens, extended battery life, and excellent new features that radically improve sports tracking and training analysis.

GARMIN FENIX 6 PRO REVIEW: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Garmin Fenix 6 Pro series comprise watches that are divided into three sizes 6S (42mm), 6 (47mm), and 6X (51mm). They are categorized as Standard, Pro (offers music and maps) and Pro Solar (offers music, maps, and the latest solar panel feature to charge battery efficiently)

It has three sizes (6, 6S & 6X) and the latest features, such as PacePro and training load analysis, along with Marq Athlete and Forerunner 945. However, it is devoid of maps and music that were available in the Fenix 5 Plus series. The Fenix 6 can be seen as a direct update of the ever-popular Fenix 5 watch.

Considering the 6S, 6, and 6X watches pro variants, they are full-fledged watches which comes handy when you store and sync music from Spotify. They also have color maps to create routes. The most technologically advanced watch of the Fenix Pro Series is the Fenix 6X Pro Solar. It is equipped with ultra-efficient solar panels on its display that improves battery life by up to 10%. Other variants of Pro watches have sapphire screens that offer scratch resistance. They cost an additional £100 to £200.

Garmin Fenix 6 price tag starts at £224 for the 6 and 6S watches (£239). The cheapest pro watches cost £259. The series' most expensive watch is the 6X Pro Solar, with a titanium band that tops out at £424.

Now talking about competition within Garmin's watches, Fenix 6 Pro series competes best with Forerunner 945, which costs £279. It has a plastic build that is more comfortable but has a less sophisticated appearance than the Fenix 6 Pro. Also, the Forerunner 945 does not have as many features as those in the Fenix 6 Pro. If you wish to use PacePro, you can rely on the Fenix series.

Considering Fenix 6 Pro series design, they all have the same signature five-button design that reflects Garmin's watches. The latest watches have a heavily rugged design. Garmin did some design upgrades by offering slightly bigger display. The 6S variants have the same 240 x 240 1.2” panel like the Fenix 5S. The other 6 and 6 Pro watches have a 260 x 260 1.3” screen. The 6X Pro and 6X Pro Solar both have the same 280 x 280 1.4” resolution display.

If you begin any activity, the Power Manager tells you how much battery level is left so you can optimize the settings to extend the battery life. If your battery level declines during the activity, the Power Manager alerts you to toggle off some features to sustain the battery life.

The Fenix series is equipped with a plethora of sensors such as Elevate Heart Rate sensor, barometric altimeter, and PulseOx sensor. You can also pair them with external sensors via Bluetooth. The Fenix 6 Pro is waterproof up to 100 m, so you can easily wear it underwater. The watch can also track your location using GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo satellites.
